100 Women Who Care

No, it’s not the title of a song, or a bedtime story. 100 Women Who Care is a network of women who get together four times a year, and do A LOT of good.

Originally founded by Karen Dunigan, the concept for this organization was born after she saw a desperate need for baby cribs in her area. The local Center for Family Health required $10,000 to address this need. Undeterred, Karen envisioned a powerful solution – gather a group of compassionate and driven women who could each contribute $100. Together, they could easily achieve the goal.

After passionate phone calls and a one hour meeting, this group of generous women were able to send more than $12,000 to the Center. Encouraged by their initial success, this “giving circle” decided to channel their collective efforts into regular, quarterly meetings to assist in local needs in the community. 100 Women Who Care was born.

Since then, more than 700 “100 Who Care” giving circles continue to make a tangible, visible impact in their local communities throughout the world. And we’re about to add another one, here in Oldham County, Kentucky. I, along with 3 other co-founders have started the 100 Women Who Care Oldham County chapter. 100 Women Who Care is a true “giving circle.” We are member-run and rely on 100+ members to consistently participate to impact our local community. It’s a simple and effective approach to helping your donations make a real difference, and the details of our very first meeting are below!
